<Summary of FY2009 results>
Sum insured of new policies decreased by 60.8% YOY due to the operation of risk restrictive stance in sales as well as contraction in the variable annuities market following the Lehman shock.
On the other hand, sum insured of in-force policies increased by 6.6% YOY.
Regarding net income, a net loss of 1.3 billion yen, a decrease of 11.4 billion yen YOY was recorded. This was due to a reversal effect of profit recorded in FY2008 which was generated from minimum guarantee underwriting reserves and contingency reserves from the ceded reinsurance of past fiscal years.
